The submillimeter wave plays a very important role between the infrared and millimeter wave in electromagnetic wave frequency spectrum. Therefore, it has important academic value. With the operating frequency constantly increasing, there has been an increasing need for milimeter wave and submilimeter wave solid-state source in systems, and frequency multipliers have been used to generate millimeter wave and submillimeter wave source effectively. The research on millimeter frequency multipliers and submillimeter frequency multipliers has important significance for communication, radar, medical treatment, environmental monitoring and physical imaging.Millimeter-wave multiplier is an important part of millimeter-wave system. It can expand the frequency spectrum and decrease the basic oscillate frequency which is of great significance for the development of stable source. Compared with even order harmonic multiplier,the tripler is more difficult to realize because the third harmonic produced by the nonlinear device is usually small.We choose the SBD (Schottky barrier diode) and realize a Q-band CPW (Coplanar waveguide)-microstrip hybrid integrated tripler with the anti-parallel diode structure. The matching network is designed by using CPW and the filters are made of microstrip. Finally, we obtain the36-54GHz output frequency, less than20dB conversion loss and more than lOdB return loss.In the first place, the development of the millimeter-wave multiplier home and abroad is narrted, especially the tripler. Secondly, we introduce the characteristics and various discontinuities of CPW. The next depicts the principle of odd order multiplier and the function of the SBD, and then the schemes of matching circuit, filters and transitions are discussed for the complete model simulation. The last is the processing work and some improving suggestions according to the test results of the tripler.
