| Multiplier is one important way to realize the millimeter-wave frequency source. Following the application and development of multiplier device and circuit, the research of multiplier theory is increasing. Today frequency multiplying technology has reached a new level.In this thesis, the historical development and future trend of millimeter-wave multiplier are introduced. Meanwhile, the conception and index of multiplier are given. The theory of multiplier using diode is given in detail. The analysis of harmonic balance used to get the formula of conversion loss in the later according to equivalent circuit design the whole circuit. The simulation, assembling and testing of the multiplier are also given.In the design of W band broad band multiplier, the input circuit realized by the microstrip circuit and the output circuit realized by the reduced height waveguide. Two opposite parallel connectable diodes crosseing the reduced height waveguide produce the triple harmonic frequency. The merit of this kind of structure is to isolate the input signal and output signal, and even-order harmonic frequency is suppressed. Input signal pass through the Ka-band microstrip-to-waveguide transition and be amplified by the AMMC-5040. The lowpass filter is order to stop the triple harmonic frequency return the input circuit . The input signal was multiplied by the double diodes and then output through the reduce height waveguide. The reduce height waveguide filter the other harmonic frequency and output the triple harmonic frequency.In order to get the best result, ADS and HFSS are used to simulation and optimization. ADS is good at the circuit simulation and HFSS is good at the 3D field simulation. The combination of ADS and HFSS can help us get the best design.By the test, the W band tripler almost reaches the requirement of the project. The design of this project can improve the development of the W band multiplier. |
