Machine vision is the technology that machines measure and judge instead of human eyes,widely used in all areas such as condition monitoring, product testing, health care,metallographic analysis, traffic management etc. The advantages of machine vision systemscan improve production flexibility and degree of automation, high-volume industrialproduction process using machine vision inspection method can greatly improve the qualityand efficiency of test, and quickly access to large amounts of information that canautomatically handle, easy to implement design information and processing controlinformation integration. Most machine vision systems on the hardware, the image acquisitioncard and industrial machine with a dedicated CPU or high-speed DSP chip as the core, with aspecially designed circuit; on the software, they are mainly man-machine interface software tocuring, does not support secondary development, the underlying assembler or C languageprogramming, need to write a lot of complex algorithms, making system development isdifficult, long cycle and high cost.This topic analyzes the current machine vision technology in the domestic andinternational research and application conditions, summarizes machine vision and virtualinstrument technology characteristics, study the practicality of a combination of both, selectsthe National Instruments LabVIEW program and image acquisition card as a software andhardware development environment, calls the vision development module IMAQ Vision thatwealth of specialized controls and libraries, designs comprehensive product inspectionplatform for testing relevant parameters from mechanical and electrical, textile products, andachieves image-capturing, machine vision inspection, decision making and I/O control inone of the machine vision product-testing platform.Specifically, this paper has done research work as follows:1.Classification,characteristics and applications of machine vision;2.Virtual instrument technology andLabVIEW;3.LabVIEW machine vision-based detection platform for the overall design;4.Design and evaluation of product-inspecting platform’s application software.
