The machine vision technology,which can extraordinarily reduce the inspection cost, effectively ensure the quality of products, strongly raise the speed and efficiency of production, has become one hot topic in the industrial online inspection for recent years and is widely used in the field of industrial inspection. In this paper, a on-line detecting system of micro-inductors production equipment, which based on the machine vision technology, image processing and serial communication has been developed. Key elements include the following:Aiming at the research request of the micro-inductors production equipment on-line detecting, combined with theories based on the machine vision system of the virtual instrument technique, and using the technique of image collection, display, processing , analysis and serial communication technology between PLC and computer, the design of the micro-inductors production equipment on-line detecting system has been completed, which includes the structure desige of the system, the collocation of the hardware, designing the system of image processing and the communication about PLC.About the system hardware design, we select the appropriate image acquiring card, optical lens, CCD camera, light source based on the actual detection of the request, and install their position reasonably so that they can meet the test requirements.The image processing software development adopts the NI Company's Virtual Instrument LabVIEW and vision tookit IMAQ VISION. On the whole it can be divided into image acquisition, image processing, image analysis and image recognition. According to micro-inductors emerging issues in the production process, we detect the folder which clips the inductor or not, the line position, and the spot welding quality based on the method of image processing. In the course of detecting we use the main image processing methods include calculating the gray value of the image, image noise reduction, iamge enhancement, iamge binarization, image analysis of the shape, image pattern matching and so on.This system has been accomplished serial communication between computer and PLC using device driving technology VISA of LabVIEW. After the system receiving the order from PLC, tht system will extract and discriminate the order, then the system will do the corresponding image acquisition, image processing and image identify. Finally, the system fed back the test results to the PLC.In this paper, a on-line detecting system of micro-inductors production equipment has been completed through combining the image processing system to the system of serial communication between computer and PLC. This system has high efficiency and the function, the capability, the reliability target accord with the design requirements completely. It solved the defects of low efficiency and low accuracy of manual detecting products quality, the success of the system raised the flexibility and automation degree of the production. It is applicable to large quantity production and it has well society and economic benefit.
