Firstly, the basic theory of virtual Instruments and machine vision is introduced and the necessity, feasibility, advantage after they were combined is discussed. Secondly, the design technique for different part of machine vision system is discussed according to system's logical structure, and then the design of image intensifier reliability testing used machine vision system was turn to reality with the design technique's guidance. Finally, the design theory and method of machine vision system were searched. The main research works are as follows:The basic thcory of virtual instruments and machine vision is introduced and the necessity, feasibility, advantage after they were combined is analyzed. The virtual instruments developing platform LabVIEW and machine vision software IMAQ Vision are introduced as followed.The design technique for different part of machine vision system is discussed according to its logical structure, and then the design of image intensifier reliability testing used machine vision system was turn to reality with the design technique's guidance. These include the design of whole system, illumination, software and the selecting method of CCD camera and frame grabber.The control module which control the lighting and electric power to be switched automatically were designed, it allows the system to do a reliability testing for image intensifier in different condition.The reliable standard image acquiring algorithm and fault recognition algorithm were designed. These algorithms are also putted into use to settle the problems. The bottleneck between image acquiring and hard disk I/O has been settled by flexibly used IDE hard disks supported RAID technique. This enables the system having high ratio of performance to prièe.The "same frequency, same phase, trigger at same time" solution for synphronization is presented and realized. The communication protocol and the software are designed. They enables the distributed system can do a real time data processing at any stage of testing synchronously.The combination of virtual instruments and machine vision is discussed. The developing theory and approach is searched from the philosophy of project, so that it can provide a reference to the following development.The release version system not only shows high degree of automation, reliability and accuracy but also supplies a gap in relative fields in China. Once the system is put into operation, the cost of human resource and financial for the Image Intensifier reliability test will be remarkably reduced, and the objectivity and accuracy of the results of test will be greatly improved simultaneously...
