Along with the rapid development of multimedia data services and wirelesscommunications, the amount of communication data has a substantial increase in embeddedsystems. How to protect sensitive information’s security has become an important issue.Embedded systems encryption and decryption operations are mostly realized by software, thisway can only satisfy small amount of data, low real-time requirements occasions. Forreal-time information plus a large amount of data encryption and decryption, due to thelimitations of embedded systems hardware performance, software implementation is clearlyunable to meet the requirements. In this paper, a programmable hardware FPGA was used toimplement the information encryption and decryption, the encryption and decryption ofinformation no longer be used to communicate with the embedded host, this method is goodsafeguard the information security of embedded systems.Order to meet the requirements of the new features of the user, the system designrequires the board to continue to integrate new functional modules, this design cause themotherboard more and more complex, device compatibility and scalability is getting moreand more worse, the cost is increasing more and more higher. Therefore, consider thecompatibility, manufacturing cycle time, cost, using the expansion interface on themotherboard to achieve the new features is a good embedded devices extension program. Thisdesign, select the SD bus interface on the motherboard to expansion interface, using FPGA tosimulat the SD bus slave interface module, the expansion of encryption and decryption can becompatible with the old embedded host.Selection of the encryption and decryption algorithm, for the safety, timeliness, ease ofuse, compatibility, etc, this design is completed symmetric encryption algorithms DES andAES, the DES encryption algorithm is fast but the security is relatively low, the AESencryption algorithm is relatively slow but safe, the two methods also can be well positionedto meet the system’s security, flexibility needs.
