With the development of broadband wireless access technology, WIMAX wireless network applications are increasingly widespread. WIMAX technology because of its high speed, low cost, wide coverage, etc., became the focus of attention of the global communications industry. Judging from the prospects for future development, WIMAX can be complementary to a3G networks, and can be deployed independently. WIMAX as a wireless communication network, its wireless network planning methods and means are also becoming increasingly important.Propagation model accurate or not is playing a very important role to the credibility of the network planning. A relatively accurate radio propagation model is conducive to accurately estimate the coverage of the base stations and the prediction network coverage status, thus contributing to an accurate estimate the number of base stations to meet the target of the network coverage, with the strategic guidance of significance. In view of this, this paper in summarizes in the WIMAX network planning foundation proposed the related propagation model calibration. The paper first introduces several types of commonly used theoretical propagation models, including the Okumura-Hata model, Cost231-Hata model, CCIR model and SUI model, and then introduces the k-parameter model.Next making a simple description of the principles and processes of the propagation model calibration on the basis of this discussion, finally combined with the actual CW test data making the propagation model calibration of Shuohuang Railway trial network. Eventually got the appropriate propagation model for the topography laid of the local environment, laid a good foundation for future WIMAX wireless network planning.
