Study On University Libraries Document Delivery Service In The Digital Environment In China

Since the1990s, the Internet has extended to all comers of the globe, and has profoundly changed the way people work, life and learning styles. Therefore the new features of the production and dissemination of social knowledge and literature appears, people to access the literature information cognition have also been given a new meaning, all of which together constitute a new information environment. Modern computer network technology has broken down geographical and institutional boundaries, gone beyond the time and space constraints, which makes literature rapid exchanging of information between the different places, the use becoming a reality; and maximizing people providing a literature to obtain the "free space".Yet in the era of information explosion, a general trend is that any one library makes document delivery a way to the sharing of resources and better meets the needs of readers, for its Library collection resources alone is not enough. In order to meet the customers’ demand of the literature which the libraries collection do not own, the document delivery service is undertaken in the libraries as one of the means of the sharing of resources, and plays their roles in the use of an external document resources to maximize the needs of the users in the digital environment.In the digital environment, compared to a few years ago, most of our university libraries document delivery services develop an improvement, but there are still many aspects of technology, resources, interests and rights management, which greatly affect the university libraries document delivery services being carried out efficiently. Therefore, systematically, in-depth studying the document delivery services and grasping the characteristics and laws to explore the best way of operation and seeking the sustainable development of the library document delivery services, have become the important research of the university librarians’subject.The generation of university libraries document delivery services are promoted mainly and jointly by the advanced computer technology and network, funding of university funds as well as the users’ needs of the blank collection of literature of their university libraries. Presently, our country university libraries in line with most of these three conditions are mainly in key universities and their independent institutes. Similar to the law of the emergence and development of anything, document delivery services of the university libraries in China generate and are being carried out up firstly in the key universities who possess advanced technology, strong capital base, and their users in need, again and again, and other ordinary universities and tertiary institutions. Therefore, the library’s document delivery services of the key universities in China as the example and demonstration of China’s university libraries document delivery services is representative of the development of the university libraries document delivery services in ChinaOn the basis of the status of the research at home and abroad document delivery service development, the paper firstly one by one clicks on the library websites of the171colleges and universities across the country, and implements the online consultation, mails the staff being responsible for their libraries document delivery service to research, and then summarizes the development status and the service characteristics; survey questionnaires, interviews, and so on research methods are used in this paper. Firstly taking Anhui University, China University of Science and Technology, Hefei University of Technology, Anhui Medical University and Anhui agricultural University, five university library (referred to as:the Hefei area "five universities" libraries), for they are covering almost all professional in Hefei region.then combining with the Hefei area of existing library resources, technical conditions, personnel quality, practically, comprehensively analyzes these five university libraries’ document delivery service and summaries the five university library document delivery service characteristics and problems; The Hefei region five university libraries’ document delivery services and the national university libraries’ document delivery services have almost the same the status quos and the problems that need to further be addressed; on that basis, measures suitable for our country and the smooth implementation of university library document delivery services are proposed, they have certain guiding significances for document delivery services of the university libraries in China continuing to carry out.
