With the issuance of3G licenses,3G has already come into thousands ofhouseholds. In recent years, as the three big communication operators of China,China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom have greatly and extensivelystrengthened the construction of their respective3G networks. With thecontinuous expansion of network size, a successive influx of new and variousbusinesses, and the rapid increase in the number of users, the pressure on thewireless network is on the rise. Therefore, optimization of the wireless networkis gaining more and more importance. Such situation is also especially becauseof the short time of the3G network construction, the complexity of networkstructure, the variety of business applications and the large number of equipmentsuppliers. All this has posed many questions to areas ranging from networkplanning to network construction. Moreover, with the appearance of variouskinds of new businesses, people’s perception of communication service is moreand more demanding, which means network optimization work is of extremeimportance.Network optimization is a process of discovering and solving problems.How to conduct network optimization with high efficiency and low cost is thekey to enhancing the quality of the network operation. The goal of networkoptimization is to improve the overall performance of the whole network withmethods such as the increase of wireless coverage, the balance of traffic, thepromotion of the network quality, and the utilization rate of system resources.Network optimization process including data collection, network performanceanalysis, network optimization scheme planning and implementing optimizationscheme and validation. Network optimization is a circulation work until the finalresults achieve the optimization target.3G is a new system with new businessand new technology, the problem of network will put forward higher request foroptimization network, and the focus will change a lot. Therefore, how to quicklydetermine the attribute of problem, narrow the scope of the investigation,accurate positioning reason and put forward reasonable optimization scheme, isthe important purposes and significance to network optimization research.Exploration into network optimization by using methods of high quality andefficiency is of great importance in achieving high-quality3G services.The thesis is aimed to study wireless network optimization based onWCDMA system. First, the paper tries to give a brief introduction to thedevelopment of communication technology and3G network technology standard and structure both at national and international levels. Then, the paper continuesto introduce the pivotal technologies of WCDMA, including fast power controltechnology, soft switch technology, RAKE receiver technology, enhancedtechnology and HSDPA technology. All this is the technological theory which thediscussion of the paper is based on. What is followed in the paper is to analyzethe WCDMA network optimization principles and methods by combiningnetwork optimization process and contents, phases and classifications.Based on the research mentioned above, the paper mainly analyzes anddiscusses related problems in four aspects: business access failure, illogicalbusiness, data transmission performance instability, and data transmissioninterruption. From this, the paper puts forward to optimization methods. Thepaper uses DT/CQT analysis method to conduct research into the signalingprocess, artificial operation, and business load. Finally, the paper first focuses onstudying two typical problems such as improper parameter setting and hardwarefunction disorders, which cause PS business dropping, and then the paper putsforward to solutions and presents the analysis of tested results.
