At present, WCDMA network is still in the initial stage, and there are a lot of problemsneed to be solved, such as covering loopholes, edge area can’t be covered, and the problemof weak signal coverage, however, if GSM network can solve these problems well, we canuse GSM/WCDMA interoperation mechanism which can allow users to enter the GSMnetwork before the problem occurs. Through this mechanism many problems can be settled,for example when the call was dropped or in poor quality in WCDMA system, the user canuse normal business by switching the call to the GSM network. GSM network cancompensate for the lack of WCDMA network effectively, at the same time users’ satisfactioncan be improved.WCDMA network provides the function of high speed data transmission, which isunmatched by GSM network. By using GSM/WCDMA interoperation mechanism, the usercan reside in the WCDMA network as much as possible, high-speed data transmissionservice can be guaranteed, which can show the technical advantages of WCDMA networkand meet the needs of data services of high-end users, therefore the analysis andoptimization of the WCDMA/GSM system interoperability strategy is meaningful. At thesame time, WCDMA network can share the traffic load of the GSM network, which canalleviate the contradiction between capacity and the quality of GSM network. Mature GSMnetwork can complement WCDMA network, which can give the retention of effectivesupport for3G users. GSM/WCDMA interoperability optimization is an important means inimproving the quality and users’ satisfaction of GSM network and WCDMA network.GSM network of Chaoyang Unicom has reached a higher coverage rate after years ofdevelopment and construction. But at the beginning of the3G construction,3G networkcan’t achieve the continuous coverage within a short time, hence we need to use WCDMAand GSM network interoperability to ensure users’ business continuity. This paper analyzedproblems of handover between WCDMA and GSM and cell reselection from the aspects ofCircuit Switched Domain and Circuit Switched Domain. The specific parameters of ZTEequipment manufacturers and GSM/WCDMA interoperability were described in detailcombined with the actual situation. We set and optimized the parameters of GSM/WCDMAinteroperability in the form of a specific scene district distribution, and optimization results were demonstrated by compared the test before adjustment and the test after adjustment.This paper can provide important reference value for the optimization of theWCDMA/GSM system interoperability, it can also realize continuous wireless cover ofchaoyang Unicom and improve users’ satisfaction.
