With the importanc e of newwork optim ization being show ed out increasingly technical has beening improved and deve lopedcontinually. The aim of building a multi-media mobile communication nerwork which is f ast, of big capacity and high quality, and global, made the nerwork optimization and management a hot research.WCDMA utilizes Wideband Code Division Multiple Access, and it's a self-jam system which bring the problem s of near-far problem and pilot channel pollution. So optimization is necessary the aim of which is to improve the system performance step by step and infinitely approach the groove state of the network. So we can meet the needs of sustaining changes and developing service requirements and poovide the best service quality. This article f irst brings forward the system of WCDMA,introducing the system structure of WCDMA,t he main technic, especially the handover control and power control.WCDMA has the ability of soft handover. The main objective of WCDMA radio network optimization is to im prove the network performance as m uch as possible to m eet the ev er changing and growin g business needs, to satisfy as m any kinds of requirements as possible, to provide signals with high strength within the network coverage, to provide high quality voice calls, and to minimize the chances of call drop. Thus, the overall system perfor mance can be improved. How should we allocate network resources to ensure service quality? How should we set up m echanism to addr ess network issues? We must optim ize network environment, ensure the safety of network operations, im prove processing speed, let the network functi on at its b est. Those are the key issu es in optim izing WCDMA network performance. This article introduces wireless network optimization from the following aspects: the history and current st atus of m obile communications, wireless netw ork optimization of m obile communication system, W CDMA network and W CDMA network optimization. It focuses on call drop optimization and the optim ization methods of call drop. It also discusses cal l drop optim ization by analyzing typical cases causing call drops, including missing configuration for adjacent areas, weak coverage, switch, interference and so on.
