The development of modern mobile communications has already entered the third-generation.As an important branch of the3rd generation mobile communications, WCDMA technology, with the technical advantages of the high-capacity, low-power, high data transfer rates, high spectral efficiency and low cost, has become one of the most widely applied technology in the worldwide.WCDMA network optimization includs wireless network optimization, transmission network optimization and the core network optimization. The wireless network optimization is closer to the users and also is the largest entity which has a big influence on network performance. So the study the optimization problems on3G network will have the important value and the significance in promoting the progress of China mobile network. The process of wireless network optimization is based on the evaluation of wireless network performance and in-depth analysis to find the problem which influences network quality, makes reasonable optimization scheme, and adjusts the course of network. It runs through the entire stage in the implement of network. This thesis first introduces the principle of WCDMA networks, and analyzes the basic flow of optimization. According to the basic situation in Weihai City, this thesis focus on the optimization problem of WCDMA networks coverage, pilot pollution problem and switching problems, and gives a detailed analysis from4aspects of the classification of the problem, the causes of the problem, process analysis and optimization measures. Finally, through the operation of the actual case, we have successfully resolved the problem on the existing networks switching, dropped calls, access, and interference, and to improve the quality and efficiency of the WCDMA networks.
