With the rapid development of telecommunications services and the growing competition in the market, how to improve the market competitiveness of operators to achieve profit maximization is the most energy-consuming thing for operators. In 2008, a new pattern in the in the domestic telecommunications industry brought a god-given opportunity for the development of value-added services. All-service Operation is the development goal of every operator. For China’s telecommunication industry, chances always go with challenges.With the progress and development of the next generation network technology, how to operate and maintenance the next generation of network has become the focus of one of the problems faced. Operation Support System (OSS)/ Business Support System (BSS) is the first choice for operator management of the next generation networks, and, OSS is a key, which is the basis for all business systems. At present, network management functions of the OSS system are limited to a single device and network element. There is a huge numbers of "Island" management systems, they lack a unified system interface and has the poor interaction.To meet the needs of business and competition, establishing a comprehensive telephone traffic analysis system is an urgent need. So, business intelligence (BI) enters the telecommunication industry. In this paper, we research the theory of data warehouse and related technology, according to the development of China’s telecommunication industry, analyzing the necessity to build a telephone traffic system, and research and design the data warehouse.Focus on the design and implementation of telephone traffic analysis system, introducing the concepts, architecture and design techniques of data warehouse, analyzing ETL design and data flow analysis and OLAP related to the operation and storage structure, especially, deeply researching the DW architecture and ETL data exchange. Using these three kinds of techniques about data warehousing, online analytical processing and ETL technology, we integrate switches data to data warehouse, design multi-dimensional data model based on business needs, which organize the data, which is enterprise managers interested, according to business theme, and provide a flexible front-end display. This design achieve a multi-net business analysis, make up for a lack of the previous cross-business analysis, and improve the utilization of data and timeliness of analysis, particularly, this system play an important guiding role for the latter part of business development.This system the author involved in was practiced in operator, and plays a major role. According to the information of telephone traffic and circuit usage, operators can accurately understand the switch run ability and network state in order to guide the equipment configuration to achieve optimum. At the same time, it will help operator control telephone traffic to implement traffic balance, improve the network success rate and optimize network services. This system received praise in the group and has begun to been promoted the Brothers.The value of the study is that not only the successful implementation of large-capacity, multi-system data for effective integration, the establishment of a flexible and comprehensive analytical model of users, but also, the techniques and methods this system design and development are highly versatile, can be extended to other fields of application.
