Static fatigue testing on aircraft has great significance of protecting the safety ofaircraft. The traditional approach is using strain gauge to collect strain data, thentransmits to stuff for data analysis through the optical fiber or other cable transmissionmedium. With the rapid development of wireless communication, micro-eletro-mechanical system, sensors and integrated circuit technology, this thesis does somestudies on a smooth communication intelligent network, low consumption, high robushand low cost wireless sensor network, which can enable to application of the staticstructural health monitoring in aircraft. This paper firstly reviews the aircraft fatigue research and development of wirelesssensor network status and trends at home and abroad, then chooses a moreenergy-efficient protocol-ZigBee as the network protocol. After introducing ZigBee protocol, this paper focus on both hardware and softwareplatform for the development of the whole process of the network. It main includehardware design and analysis of the problem. Hardware works include chip selection, the master module ARM of Cortex-M3core and peripheral low frequency circuit design,RF circuit design, circuit analysis and measurement of the actual data. Softwareincluding the operating system transplant of μCOS-II, the key driver of the hardwarecommunication platform design, networks self-organization, and gives a detailed flowchart. Finally, the paper studys the key issues in wireless sensor network, which isrouting protocols. And LEACH protocol as the typical representative of cluster routingprotocol is researched and improved. Through the MATLAB simulation, results showthe improved network lifetime extension of LEACH protocol is better than the originalLEACH protocol.
