Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is widely used in military, agriculture, environmental monitoring, medical and health, industry, AI transportation, buildings monitoring, outer space exploration. It has a broad prospect and great value of application; it is regarded as the world top ten technologies in the future, also an important member technology of object-internet as well. Therefore, the study, design or optimization of more efficient network protocols for the WSN to extend the network lifetime and improve its performance (such as packet delivery rate of success, speed, etc.) is very necessary.This thesis has made a detailed analysis of the LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) routing protocol.It is a classical WSN hierarchical clustering routing protocol, and the protocol specific algorithm is divided into two phases: construction of cluster head election phase and the stable cluster session. In the algorithm of cluster head construction phases, there exists the defect that the distribution of the cluster heads elected are too intensive and the number of cluster heads is too big in some rounds.Against this defect,the paper has made a corresponding improved research,brought up a cluster election program LEACH-CT based on Mesh.In the stable phases,the data received by the cluster heads are sent directly to the base station in a single hop way.This paper also made an attempted research on dividing nodes into Secondary cluster structure or multi-hop data transmission.and the method is LEACH-CT.This paper has made seas of Comparisons of simulation experiments of the improved LEACH-NT and LEACH-NT with the original ones,and has separately made simulation analysis with the files of two different sensor nodes distribution in order to ensure the accuracy of the experiment results.The simulation results validates it that LEACG-NT has indeed effectively extended the network life,improved the network performance.The envisage of the two-cluster of LEACH-CT is feasible, but its practical implementation aspects need further improvement and research.The thesis content is organized as the following order:Chapter 2 briefly introduces the WSN routing protocols. Chapter 3 briefly describes the characteristics of NS2 simulation platform and the Windows XP System Platform. Chapter 4 details the characteristics of the LEACH protocol and the modified agreement, and proposed specific changes to the program. Chapter 5 of the revised agreement the original agreement with the simulation of a large number of comparative studies, at last put out the conclusion. The final chapter is a summary of this work done and proposed hierarchical routing protocols for WSN research outlook.
