On the health status analysis of the teaching and administrative staff of a normaluniversity in Fujian and corresponding countermeasuresObjective:To know about the health status of the faculty members;to find out prevailingnegative health factors existing among the staff;to base the formulation andimplementation of health education and promotion strategies for educators onscientific basis. Methods:Having had a detailed collection of the teaching and administrative staff’sphysical examination results, this paper used Microsoft Office Excel2003to establisha data base, through which the paper employed SPSS statistical software, followingthe approach of descriptive statistics frequency analysis, and focused on systematicallyanalyzing and comparing the detectable rate of abnormal conditions of the testreadings according to different genders, ages, titles, job functions of the faculty.Results:1.284of all the411members tested have been are found having abnormalconditions, with a detection rate of69.1%.2.After classification of the data,it follows that:24.6%of the members arediagnosed as having pharyngitis,17%of them are detected with hyperuricemia,15.0%suffering from hyperlipidemia,13.6%having fatty liver,12.7%with abnormal liverfunction,11.7%with rhinitis,10.5%with cardiac insufficiency,10.2%with stones,and6.8%with hypertension.3.There is no apparent statistical significance for the analysis of the incidencerate of ENT diseases, blood biochemical index abnormalities, hepatobiliary diseasesand cardiovascular diseases among different genders;by contrast, the incidence rate ofrenal cyst is statistically significan(tP<0.05),with the female’s obviously higher than that of the male.4.There is no apparent statistical significance for the analysis of the incidencerate of ENT diseases, blood biochemical index abnormalities and cardiovasculardiseases among different age groups;while analysis on the rate of incidence of suchproblems as hepatic calcification and urinary occult blood is statistically significant(P<0.05),and people belonging to the age group of61or above are believed to be moresusceptible to them.5.There is no apparent statistical significance for the analysis of the incidencerate of ENT diseases, renal diseases and cardiovascular diseases among members ofdifferent academic rankings;yet a close look into the detectable rate of hyperviscosityblood syndrome and stones is more statistically effective(P<0.05),for it is found thatstaff complaining of these problems are commonly of high professional rankings.6.There is no apparent statistical significance for the analysis of the incidencerate of ENT diseases and renal diseases among different occupations;while analysison the rate of incidence of such problems as hyperuricemia, fatty liver, gallbladderpolyps, myocardial ischemia is statistically significant P<0.05),as moreadministrative staff are listed in this category.Conclusions:1.The general health status of the faculty is not optimistic, for it can be learnedfrom the data that the number of members who suffer from varying degrees of lesionsor clinical symptoms accounts for69.1%of the staff.2.Pharyngitis tops the list of common diseases bothering the faculty,with24.6%suffering from it;while hyperuricemia ranks second, accounting for17%;and fatty livercomes third,involving13.6%.3.Among the circulatory system diseases,Myocardial ischemia is mostcommonly seen.4.Among the Endocrine system diseases, hyperuricemia stays high on the list.5.Statistically,there are gender differences in the incidence rate of renalcyst, while on other medical items, the gender differences are not noticeable. 6.The incidence of hepatic calcification and urinary occult blood increases alongwith the growth of age.7.The incidence of hyperviscosity blood syndrome and stones goes up inaccording with the level of professional ranking.8.The incidence of hyperuricemia, fatty liver,Gallbladder polyps,Myocardialischemia is relatively higher in the families with the couple both working full time.
