Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of shallow needling of jiaji points of neck for cervical spondylopathy, basing on the theory of meridians and points in traditional chinese medicine(TCM) and modern study on meridians and acupoints.Method:According to the clinical diagnostic criteria,67patients of cervical spondylopathy were randomly divided into treatment group(shallow needling of jiaji points of neck)and control group(routine acupuncture of jiaji points of neck), the treatment group with34cases and the control group with33cases.4~6pairs of jiaji points of neck were selected by the affected cervical and up and down ones, with the needling technique4~10mm in depth of the treatment group and20~30mm in depth of the control group. Even needling manipulation was applied by both groups, and10treatments made one session. The therapeutic effect would be observed after one session in the two groups.By the use of short-form of McGill pain questionnaire which is internationally recognized, patients in both groups accepted the score assessment of PRI, VAS and PPI before and after one treatment session, and statistical analysis of the scores was made; to observe the improvement of both group patients’neck symptoms by the use of cervical spondylopathy neck symptoms and signs score sheet, and make evaluation for clinical efficacy of two groups after treatment referring to the "Syndrome diagnosis efficacy standards of traditional Chinese Medicine".Result:(1)The treatment group patients’feeling-PRI, emotion-PRI, total-PRI, VAS, PPI and neck symptoms and signs scores had statistically significant differences before and after treatment(p<0.01).(2)The control group patients’feeling-PRI, emotion-PRI, total-PRI,VAS, PPI and neck symptoms and signs scores had statistically significant differences before and after treatment (p<0.01).(3)Treatment and control group patients’feeling-PRI, emotion-PRI, total-PRI, VAS and neck symptoms and signs scores had statistically significant differences after treatment(p<0.01),but no differences in PPI scores(p>0.05).(4)Clinical efficacy of treatment and control groups had statistically significant differences after the treatment session (p<0.05).Conclusion:(1) The clinical symptoms such as pain and discomfort of patients in both groups had significant improvement after one treatment session.(2) The treatment group was better than control group in feeling-PRI, emotion-PRI, total-PRI, VAS and neck symptoms and signs scores after the treatment session, while in the PPI scores were no differences between these two groups.(3) The better clinical efficacy has been achieved for cervical spondylopathy treated with shallow needling of jiaji points of neck and its efficacy is superior to that of the routine acupuncture of jiaji points of neck.
