The development of our country depends on the comprehensive competence, ofwhich talents place at the very heart. Therefore, our country should improve theoverall quality of education and nurture new talents who meet the new time standard.As the training base of high quality talents, normal university will be faced with moreopportunities and challenges. They need to renew the teaching ideas, speed up thepace of education reform and improve the students’ professional knowledge andability, so as to train more and more outstanding teachers. With the development ofthe national education and the new curriculum reformation, normal university willtrain more and more qualified talents and make greater contributions to our socialistconstruction.Through document study, the author of this paper induces the followingconclusions: the level of teachers’ knowledge includes cultural knowledge, educationknowledge and professional knowledge; the level of teachers’ ability includes basicability, teaching ability and research innovation ability; Based on these conclusions,an investigation on the level of knowledge and ability of undergraduate preparing foron boarding process and majoring in biology from normal university is carried on.We choose senior students majoring in biology from two key normal universitiesas samples and investigate the level of knowledge and ability of them from the sixaspects mentioned above, using questionnaire survey and interview method. Throughanalysis and summary of the investigation result, problems will be found. We alsopertinently put forward recommendations to curriculum design of biology in normaluniversity and the student’s career development, in order to provide the theory basis ofhow to improve the teaching quality and train high qualified teachers for normaluniversity.Through the study, this paper safely draws the following conclusions of theundergraduate preparing for on boarding process and majoring in biology fromnormal university:(1) Their conviction of teaching is not strong but their employmentintention is at a high level; Their value orientation is positive.(2) The level ofknowledge: the level of humanitarian knowledge is high, the level of educationalknowledge is average, and they lack active learning. The level of professionalknowledge is high, but their acquisition of high school biology curriculum is limited.(3) The level of ability: mandarin, English, computer and other basic ability are at high levels; teaching ability is average, the ability of using modern scientific andtechnological methods in teaching is at a low level. They mainly lack teachingpracticing experience. Their ability of research innovation is at a high level.(4) Thereis a gender difference in the level of knowledge and ability.Based on the above conclusions, this paper put forward the followingsuggestions:(1) as to the curriculum design of the biology major of normal university,they should adjust the training objective, update the course design system andenhance the teaching practice.(2) As to the undergraduate majoring in biology fromnormal university, they should strengthen their conviction of teaching, emphasizetheir understanding of the basic biological education and cultivate the idea ofprofessional self-development.
