Catering market is very active in Chongqing, however what does not adapt to therapid development of catering trade is that catering enterprises in the face talentshortage and erosion, poor quality of service, trade competition is fierce, especiallyamong them to talent shortage and most serious erosion problems. Harter etc throughthe study found that the employee's engagement of the high degree of organization,the customer satisfaction, the profit margin, productivity and enterprise performanceis high, and the improvement of employee's engagement can effectively reduce thewastage rate and employees of accidents. Therefore, catering enterprises needimprove employee professional degree level to make great progress.This paper taking Chongqing catering employees as research object, bytheoretical analysis as the foundation, combined with practical, gives empirical studydividing four stages. The first stage: reviews the domestic and foreign relevantresearches. Firstly reviews the relative basic theory about the study of employeeengagement, and then analyzes the related literatures at home and abroad respectivelyfrom professional degrees of the concept, structure, measurement and influencefactors. The second stage: the present situation and challenge of catering industry'sdevelopment. Briefly analyzes the characteristics of the catering industry, anddescribes the present situation of the development of Chongqing city catering industryat present, then forecasts the challenges that catering industry will face in the futuredevelopment of Chongqing city, finally shows that requirements about employeeengagement to promote the development of catering industry in Chongqing. The thirdstage: questionnaire design and research. Designs a questionnaire about cateringemployee engagement, through the pre-investigation to test reliability and validity ofquestionnaire, and modifies the questionnaire, and finally form the final questionnaire.The fourth stage: data analysis. Through the questionnaire survey, collect data, andthen data statistic analysis about the questionnaire survey through the SPSS16.0software. The paper analyses the main influences of the catering industry's employeeengagement including: personal growth and career development, the job itself,approval and belonging, compensation and benefits, leading management andauthorize, relationships and industry characteristics. Finally constructs the dimensionmodel of the catering industry's employee engagement. Based on the above research, the paper finally puts forward some measures oflifting catering industry's employee engagement in Chongqing.The measures mainlyinclude five aspects: firstly, pay attention to employee's personal growth and careerdevelopment, and carry out the occupation career planning for employees; secondly,enhance the approval of staffs and the belonging to the organization from employees;thirdly, strengthen the leadership level of the management and moderate authorization;fourthly, set up the flexible job system, enrich the staff's job content, and improve theworking environment, thus making the job attracting; fifthly, improve the level ofsalary and welfare treatment; sixthly, strengthen the strong cooperation of the wholeteam, and highlight the whole team performance.
