The transmission requirements of optical transport network for oriented and adaptived the packet services has been an important topic in the next step of the development of optical communications, especially Ethernet, IPTV, video business development have proposed new requirements to the backbone transmission network. With the explosive particles packet business growth and a more business detailed scheduling capabilities requirements, the existing network can not meet the requirements. In order to adapt to new business development, optical transport network serie standards is continuously improving, however, how to support in the signal that is less than 2.5G is still not resolved, so optical transmission network to carry GE signal is extremely urgent.As for the way of carrying GE on optical network, the solution of GE over OTN is raised based on the theoretical research of the key technologies of maping the GE to the optical transmission network as well as the comparison to the existing ones:(1) increase utilization of network resources; (2) make bearer service more richer; (3) increase network flexibility, reduce maintenance costs; (4) make management more convenient.The first chapter of this paper introduces packects business development and its transmission application over OTN, and then put forward the necessity of GE signal transmission over OTN;ChapterⅡfirst introduced the OTN hierarchical and frame structure then compare and analyse the several solutions of GE signal transmission in the network, last put forward solution of GE signal over OTN;ChapterⅢanalyse key technologies of GE over OTN, and deep research of GFP-T frame and deframe, as well as GMP-rate adjustments and other technical difficulty; ChapterⅣdiscusses the key technology viability of circuit in the GE over OTN and propose solutions for the key technology, and deep research of the each key technology; ChapterⅤtest and verify the front solutions,the program is designed by Verilog HDL language, last simulation the code and analyse the results; ChapterⅥsummarize the paper and look forward to the future work.
