As the continuous development of the Web function, the IE-based applications get wider and wider. Web-based teaching advances further at the base of inheriting and integrating traditional teaching advantages. Web teaching system will be the main trend in development of future teaching system. Comprehensive quality and Innovation ability of the learner get more and more important nowadays. The online abundant resources and the diversity of interactive modes make teaching develop diversely. Independent learning, Inquiry learning, cooperative learning and individualized learning modes, etc. emerge constantly and are applied widely. Good results have been achieved.Through researching, it is found that the nature of independent learning, cooperative learning, inquiry learning and individualized learning is problem-based or task-based inquiry learning. WebQuest is a widely used inquiry teaching mode. Its flexible and operational inquiry process makes the student-centered and teacher-led interactive feedback be conducted better and traditional classroom learning and Web classroom inquiry be integrated easily. WebQuest process overemphasizes the inquiry and omits intellectual analysis, so it is difficult to ensure the correctness and purposiveness of the inquiry process. For that reason, the MindMap is introduced in inquiry process. Learners guided by tasks assigned and inquiry resources provided by teachers design MindMap according to the current knowledge architecture and carry out inquiry learning around the MindMap. The intellectual analysis and logicality of MindMap ensure the inquiry accuracy and purposiveness and help to foster learners'knowledge comprehensive application ability and to enhance innovative ability. In addition, learning efficiency can be increased and teaching quality can be improved.In this paper, the design and implementation of Web teaching system based on MindMap-WebQuest are described in detail concerning its modeling, requirements analysis, functional module design, system implementation and application research. The principal work accomplished is as follows: The both overseas and domestic state of Web teaching system study and development of art is introduced and discussed. Current Web teaching systems are analyzed and Existing problems are summarized. The necessity and feasibility of developing Web teaching system based on MindMap-WebQuest are analyzed.The theoretical bases of building Web teaching system based on MindMap-WebQuest are analyzed in detail. Around MindMap and WebQuest, the main modules of Web teaching system have been designed and MindMap-WebQuest model has been established, in which the student-centered and teacher-led idea is introduced and intellectual analysis feedback circle is designed. It can effectively form the interactive mechanism of evaluation and feedback among teachers and students and improves the integration mode of traditional and Web classrooms.Design thinking of Web teaching system based on MindMap-WebQuest is clarified. On the theoretical model, functional modules have been designed, which can provide publishing and management of Web resources and inquire tasks assigned by teachers. In addition, the supporting modules have been designed too, which can carry out MindMap and WebQuest of Web inquiry learning. The principal system functional modules have been implemented according to the system architectural design and database design and by using .Net developing platform.The Web teaching system based on MindMap and WebQuest has been applied to teaching practice and application research is carried out according to the data acquired from experimental class in order to make the system better. Lastly, the Web teaching system design and implementation are summarized and the further researching topics of theoretical study and practical development have been put forward.In the basis of the integration of traditional and Web teaching classroom, the Web teaching system has been established by using WebQuest and MindMap. By inputting teaching tasks, teaching situation and teaching materials and by means of teacher's just-in-time guidance and learner's thinking and inquiry, the final complete mind maps and inquiry conclusions can be achieved so that the goal of enhancing learner's comprehensive qualities and innovative ability can be realized. In the basis of traditional classroom, building Web teaching system by integrating mind map and inquiry process is the principal innovative point.
