With the popularization of higher education, higher vocational education also speeds up its educational reform in order to conform to the current social development and nurture eligible talents of creative spirits. The course named "the Principle of Computer Network" , an obligatory course for computer majors, is a highly theoretic course whose current teaching mode is, however,still based on the traditional teacher-imparting method with the support of students' practice on computer. This kind of teaching mode can hardly develop students' advanced thinking ability and innovative ability so that we should change the old educational principle, teaching mode and students' learning method. WebQuest is a kind of web-based teaching mode which takes the Constructivism Theory as the foundation, regards students as the center and accepts teachers as the guiding part. It can make good use of network resources and help students complete the particular study mission, thus reach the aim of improving students' cognitive and problem-solving abilities which rightly corresponds with the educational expectation of higher vocational colleges. This thesis describes the theoretic basis , notion and characteristics of WebQuest teaching mode and makes a further discussion about its applied value in the course "the Principle Computer Network" according to the characteristics of higher vocational education. Finally , the thesis puts forward some proposals to its existing problems.
