In the background of globalization, the speed and efficiency of information dissemination accelerated. The influence of mass media especially the world's mainstream media grows rapidly. They were no longer confined within a country, but have a profound impact on the world's attention and public awareness. By the coverage of the mass media, the event that only happened in a particular country or region span the geographical or ethnic limitations, become a global media event. According to different initiative, the global media event could be divided into two categories, by the state and government-led and by non-governmental organization (NGO)-led.Actively participate in the global media event could improve or even re-shape the image of the host country. The contents of the report on China by mainstream print media, as well as specific reporting bias, will directly affect the image of China in the international communication environment.With the methods of quantitative analysis,this paper select two different types of global media events(Beijing Olympic Games and 3·14 event as example), and take content analysis for the reports of "The New York Times" and "Time" on China. By describing the quantity of reporting,the distributing of content,and the theme of reporting as well,the research shows the image in western mainstream media. And this paper analyzes the effect and inspiration of the global media events in building on our national image.
