China-Africa friendly exchanges have a long history.The China-Africa Cooperation Forum was formally established in 2000.China and African countries have started a new type of China-Africa strategic partnership under the new situation Up to 2015,the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation has been held for a total of six sessions.The two sides would focus on implementing the Ten Major Cooperative Plans on the basis of previous cooperation.China-Africa strategic partnership has attracted high attention from western political,academic and media circles in the past decade.However,the western media have repeatedly labelled China's image in Africa as a "neo-colonialism",leading to constant criticism and questioning.As the other side of China-Africa relations,how do African countries view the new type of China-Africa strategic partnership?How do African media report this partnership?How do African media present China's image?Are there any differences in China-related reports in different African media?Have the voices of western countries,especially Europe and the United States,influenced the African media in their attitudes towards China-Africa relations?In order to answer the above questions,this paper tries to choose the mainstream media ofKenya,Nigeria and South Africa,which are members of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum,for content analysis and reporting framework analysis.This paper selects three mainstream media reports from January 1,2017 to December 31,2017:Kenya National Daily in Africa,Vanguard in Nigeria and Postal Guardian in south Africa for content analysis.The results show that the Chinese-related reports of African mainstream media are restricted by many factors.Under the influence of different news frames,the choice of topics and the use of sources in China-related reports show obvious tendency.This paper analyzes the presentation of news framing framework and the reasons for tendentious reporting,and puts forward some suggestions to improve China's public opinion environment in Africa.The main structure of this paper is divided into three parts:introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction begins with the reason of the topic selection,reviewing and analyzing the research results of domestic and foreign research results of China-Africa relations and African media reports on China.Then it elaborates on the theory and application of news framework,and puts forward effective research methods and research inadequacies.In the main body of the part,the first chapter mainly uses quantitative research and content analysis methods,and conducts detailed data statistics and content analysis on the samples of the three African media reports on China in 2017;The second chapter analyzes the frame characteristics and differences of three media reports on China in 2017.The third chapter analyzes the reason why the three media set different reporting frameworks based on the previous content and the case study.The fourth chapter puts forward seven suggestions on improving China's public opinion environment in Africa.At last,the paper draws the following conclusions:1.African media tend to regard China-Africa relations positively;2.China's image is not the same in different fields and issues in China-Africa relations;3.There are differences in the coverage framework of different media in Africa;4.the attitude of western countries towards China-Africa relations has an impact on African media coverage of China.
