The Feed industry in China has the following features: uneven regional development, fluctuant prices of main raw materials, private enterprises dominated industry structure and so on. Therefore, how to optimize the supply chain of feed industry and shorten order processing period are urgently required for the development of feed industry enterprises. The resolve of these problems helps for feed enterprises to become large-scale and intensive, and means a lot for the development of these feed enterprises.This paper has analyzed the supply chain of feed industry, completed the modeling and optimization of the supply chain of feed industry, and discussed the implementation and verification of the optimization solutions. This thesis has finished the following researching tasks.1. ARIS-based modeling and optimization. In this thesis, ARIS tool set is used to break down the supply chain process of feed industry into activities; A supply chain model of feed industry is built; The supply chain model is optimized after analysis; A comparative analysis of the models and the results of the different optimization solutions is done based on simulations. The results shows that the solutions could substantially increase order completion rates, reduce average order processing time and order processing period, and improve supply chain efficiency.2. Optimization solutions for the supply chain of feed industry are designed. This paper presents an optimization solution on process containing improving the efficiency of activities, merging similar activities or documents, paralleling activities, conversing the executor or place of activities, and removing unnecessary activities. In addition, this paper also presents another optimization solution on human resource consisting of balancing workload, designing proper shifts and sliding working period to reduce bottlenecks. The third solution combines the above two solutions.3. Implementation and verification of the optimization solutions for the supply chain of feed industry. This paper implements the optimization solutions in a real enterprise, including not only sales order processing, quality inspection and quality assurance, delivery and some other aspects of process optimization and working time or content adjustment of some positions from the point of view of human resource, but also the introduction of software systems such as PDA order processing system and configuration update in SAP system. The feasibility and effectiveness of the solutions for the supply chain of feed industry are validated by the increase of order completion rates and the decrease of open sales order numbers collected at the beginning of each month in 2010.In this paper, a model for the supply chain of feed industry is done based on ARIS toolset and SCOR model, and some optimization solutions for the supply chain of feed industry are studied from the point of view of process and human resource. The main result of this paper is the optimized supply chain model of feed industry and the optimization solutions which are applicable for the feed industry in China. The solutions could shorten order processing time and improve order processing efficiency within a certain period, which have a good effect on optimizing the supply chain of feed industry enterprises. The results of this paper would be useful for the companies in other industries which are seeking optimization solutions of their supply chains.
