ObjectiveIn knowledge medical era, the development of biomedicine and the spread of the concept of evidence-based medicine have made doctors more rely on information and the renewal of knowledge to cure disease. Medical students are the reserves of clinical practice and medical research, so the requirement of information literacy has become the golden standard of global medical practitioners. However, there are still some disadvantages in our information literacy education, which is in the form of information retrieval course. This research is to use the methods of qualitative research and quantitative research to design online information literacy instruction website for our medical students, and the website can meet the personalized and diversified needs of medical students anytime and anywhere, finally improve their information literacy and life-long learning skill.methodsIn this study, co-citation cluster analysis of high-frequency citations was used to discover research focuses, and by the methods of literature retrieval and website survey, we found the current situation of online information literacy instruction, in order to find differences, we made a comparison between domestic and abroad universities. Medical information literacy education model was based on the international information literacy standards and international medical education level, at last, online information literacy instruction website was constructed, which is based on constructivism, Big6 model, PHP and MySQL techniques.results(1) The field of information literacy research is multidisciplinary and rich in content, However, it has close connection with clinical medicine and public health, health literacy and health information literacy is the key point of the field.(2) The online information literacy instruction of our country has some disadvantages in the form and content, which are the connotation of information literacy is not comprehensive and the system of cooperative is not well organized. (3)The cultivation of medical information literacy is a gradual strengthening and continuously consolidated process, so a mode of multi-level teaching aim, teaching content and diversified education of information literacy should be established to meet the different information needs of different grades.conclusions(1) To use the idea of information literacy education to reform the present course system of higher education is an inevitable trends, the construction of medical students' online information literacy instruction website has the positive effect.(2) The innovations of this study is that information problem-solving mode was used in medical information literacy education, which make students get the basic method of information retrieval and analysis step by step.(3) The deficiencies of this study are that the user group should be enlarged and the mechanism of regular satisfaction survey needs to be improved.
