We commonly use SCM, SCM+IPC and the form of MCU+FPGA combination to realize the current LED screen control system, such design does not facilitate product upgrades and technical updates. In response, this paper presents a design idea based on the embedded SOPC; the hardware design turns into a form of software, and the main function concentrate in a FPGA implementation; we configure within the CPU as needed in the SOPC Builder, so the design is very flexible; it eliminates the need for changing hardware circuit trouble, and the design shortens the development cycle and reduces costs.The system consists of display panels, PC host computer and the control panel.The master chip of the control panel is EP2C35F672C8 chip of Cyclone series of Altera Company; graphic data sends from the host computer through the serial port to the control panel, showing on the screen after treated.This paper describes the composition and development of LED screen as well as the FPGA, SOPC and Nios II processor technology used in the design, and then it describes hardware and software design process in detail based on the LED screen control system of SOPC . The hardware section include power circuit, communication circuit, memory circuit, driving circuit design and so on, using SOPC Builder system to construct module, in the experiment, it describes the building process of the hardware devices of various modules in the system in detail. The design of software is divided into upper part and lower part; the software system compiles and debugs on the Nios II IDE with software control system theory and its architecture. Completing the system of information compilation, data storage and sending to other functions by programming. The whole system function module is implemented in QuartusⅡ7.2, and tests on the test platform. Finally, I complete designing parts of the system.
