Along with the people living standard enhancement, not just the public system,many families also need video monitoring system for home, car alarm etc.. Videosurveillance system to improve the public security system of the service andmanagement level, to achieve efficient management of city safety information and use,for public security, traffic system and industrial and mining enterprises and individualusers to provide strong security guarantee.In this paper, using Altera’s FPGA chip, the individual families using a securityvideo monitoring system hardware and software design. The design of hardwaredesign is to build the system hardware platform, including the design of powermodule, the FPGA configuration circuit, clock circuit and reset circuit and peripheralcircuit design, a video collecting module design, video display module design, SDcard memory module design and so on, introduced with emphasis on the NIOS II softcore processor hardware architecture and the establishment of SOPC system, presentsthe some function modules of the Verilog language, hardware description. Thesoftware design mainly is uses the C language in the NIOS II IDE platform forembedded soft core software design, the main achievement of the system operationcontrol, signal processing and transmission function.The paper describes the research background and social research, the papermakes the overall introduction to structure; secondly, based on the NIOS II videomonitoring system related technology to make the narration, describes in detail thesystem using FPGA embedded chip and NIOS II soft core embedded system based onNIOS; again on video monitoring system design ideas and frame structure isdescribed, the overall description system used in the key technology; then the systemhardware design and software design are studied and the design of hardware system,each part of the circuit diagram, and focus on the NIOS II platform under the soft corestructures and Hardware Description Language Verilog programming; software designmainly discussed C language programming video collection, transmission, storageand display of the entire process, presents the software design flow chart.This design through extensive market research, combined with the needs ofbusinesses and individuals to develop this system, the portable compact videoacquisition system such as a personal family of indoor and outdoor, automotive, enterprises inside and outside the studio and other occasions of anti-theft monitoring.The design of the whole system the majority are in the FPGA chip using SOPC softcore technology to finish the design, fully consider application cost and the needs ofindividual users, so the system has advantages of light weight, simple installation anduse, low cost and applicability of the characteristics of a wide range of flexible.
