The LED display screen is syntheses of microelectronics, photoelectron, computer, and the information processing technology. It has been expanded quickly and largely in recent ten years because it is provided with long life-span, good applicability, steady performance, the low power dissipation, the high brightness and so on, making it be the mainstream product in the field of flat display.The LED display screen is applied broadly such as the finance and stock exchange, sports, airport, railway station, highway traffic, commercial advertisement, post and telecommunications, electron landscape and so on.At present, most of the control systems of the LED display screen are implemented by MCU and CPLD/ FPGA, which is not easy for updating and upgrade. In order to solve the above problem, a new thought based on Niosâ…¡processor with an embedded soft-core is put forward in this paper. So, the hardware design is realize by software. The main function can be realized on one FPGA chip. And the CPU can be configured in the SOPC Builder, making it flexible to design. And it gets rid of the troubles of revising hardware, which shorten the design cycle and reduce the cost of the production.This system is mainly composed of display screen, control board and PC.The EP1C6Q240C8 chip of Altera Corporation's Cyclone family is used as the main chip. The data is sent through the serial port.The composition and development about LED display screen and the processor technology used such as EDA, SOPC, and Niosâ…¡are introduced in this paper firstly. Then the design procedure of LED display screen based on niosâ…¡is illuminated. The part of hardware is consists of communication circuit, circuit storage, drive signal. And the part of software is consists of C++ and Visual Basic6.0 program.The system based on the Niosâ…¡is superiority for its low cost, short Period of development, easy updating and good performance of control. The research and development of LED display Panel control system based on Niosâ…¡must be developed further.
