Study Background and Objective: Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) is a common disease of digestive system, It is a chronic inflammation having characterization with circumscribed and extensive putrescence of the gland of gastric mucosa and decrease, Because of the rate of CAG progressed to carcinoma of stomach is high, it have a long course , varied clinical manifestations and tend to recrudesce, so at present there is no specific treatment for it, and domestic and foreign scholars focused on it all the time. For the past of years, how interrupt and reverse precancerous changes that have garnered particular attention. Traditional Chinese medicine that based on the TCM theory of syndrome differentiation play its unique advantage for it ,and make great progress for treatment ,and have accumulated much experience. A lot of clinical data show TCM has a clear reversal of the role of CAG. This study to observe the effect of Clove wei ling mixture on the gastric mucosa level of SS, the protein of Bax and gastric mucosa Pathological histology in rats model of Chronic Atrophic Gastritis, and to explore the possible mechanism of CWLM in the treatment of CAG.Material and Method: Sixty Wistar rats were randomly divided into Five groups (male and female half and half): normal control group, model control group, CWLM low-dose group, CWLM middle-dose group and CWLM high-dose Group, 12 in each group. Modeling methods: the normal control rats given normal saline, the other groups were administered with sodium salicylate, free drink ammonia, with irregular diet animal model was established by CAG, all the factors were given for two months. after the success of the intervention modeling experiment, Except normal control group rats and model control group, others were treated with different dose CWLM for fifty days. Their gastric juice was collect to detect pH value with pH test paper, their blood serum of eyeball was collect to detect SS content with SS Elisa kit. Stained with immunocytochemistry, apoptosis related protein Bax in the mucosa of the rats stomach Was shown. Image analysis was used to detect the expression of these proteins and to clarify the correlation between the expression of Bax protein in gastric gland and gastric mucosa damage. Detect the gastric mucosa changes by light microscopy. All experimental data application SPSS 17.0 for windows statistical software for statistical analysis, P<0.05 as statistically significant differences, P<0.01 as extremely statistically significant differences.Results: Compared to normal control group, pH value of gastric juice and the quantity of SS were significantly higher, then expression of Bax in the model control group was significantly lower, the difference was extremely statistically significant (p<0.01), and pathological changes are quite, Compared to model control group, those rats were treated with different dose CWLM for fifty days, there was significant statistics difference in pathologic changes of gastric mucosa. Compared to model control group, pH value of gastric juice and the quantity of SS were lower, then the expression of Bax of high-dose CWLM group, middle-dose CWLM group and low-dose CWLM group were higher, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01or P<0.05).Conclusion : Abnormal expressions of pH, SS and Bax could be the internal factor partly in the CAG improvements. CWLM not only can reduce significantly level of pH and SS, which can promote Gas excretion indirectly, and play a role of negative feedback regulation to master the gastrin- somatostatin - hydrochloric acid axis; but also can increase Bax expression, which plays a role of positive feedback regulation to cell apoptosis to preserve normal cell apoptosis and the renewal of the stomach mucosa, to block cells' reproductive activity. Protection of gastric mucosa injure is an important factor induced CAG, and CWLM have protective functions against the gastric mucosal injure, even can turn over partly the pathologic changes of gastric mucosa, It is a important factor induced Chronic atrophic gastritis.
