With the development of information technology, more and more people begin to develop the Digitized campus construction. As the entry of the Digitized campus, University Portal plays a key role. It can supply convenient"One-Stop"services for campus users and offer an open environment to meet personalized requirements of users, which make it more important. But most of the university portal is developed from the consideration of technology implementation not from users, the focus on technology implementation is overdone and it causes the weak interaction of the developed system.Based on the analysis and comparison of Portal architecture and the existing framework, this paper reviews the characteristics of Web services, which are human-centered, emphasizing interaction and information sharing. Compares and analyzes the typical technology and protocol, WSRP and usage scenarios. Based on the analysis of the campus portal's needs, we build a common framework UCP (Universal Campus Portal), identifiy the main functions of the system and design the UCP system architecture and its database. The UCP contains two aspects: how to build a campus portal and how to improve the campus portal's services. We propose some application strategy and application model which shows how to use the web2.0 technology in the campus portal, and design the UCP's functions such as single sign-on, customization and application system integration. In addition, we apply the thinking of service-oriented in UCP, and have in-depth discussions on how to apply the remote service supplied by other portals or service providers to solve interactive problem on data tier and presentation tier by using web services and WSRP technology. We propose a new data structure and construct a portlet search engine in view of the unreasonable factors in data structure of WSRP on UUDI. Finally, we implement the main modules of the UCP system and deploy it, achieving a common framework for the campus portal. We also use Ajax technology to improve the system performance. The running results show that the design and implementation of the UCP system implements single sign-on, personalization, application integration and the integration of remote resources functions; it implements the interaction model as well, and has good performance.
