With the rapid development of micro-electro-mechanism system, embedded system, sensor technology, computer network technology and wireless communication technology, the remote monitoring system of oil production is becoming a research hot spot at home and abroad. At present, the existing remote monitoring system of oil production has many deficiencies in the transmission distance, the network coverage, the energy consumption and design cost of system, the costs of system operating, and the limit development of some related technologies. These shortcomings have brought great difficulties in the promotion of remote monitoring system.To settle these problems above, this paper proposes a design of remote monitoring system of oil production based on Zigbee wireless sensor network. The design solves many problems, such as the difficulties of equipment maintenance, the management confusion, the waste of human and material resources, which are caused by adverse circumstances, complex terrain, and wide distribution of numerous oil wells.The system constructs monitoring network of oil production field based on the technology of Zigbee. Zigbee has low complexity, low power, low cost, and low speed of data transmission. It adopts unified opening protocol standard and uses ISM frequency band which exempt license. It provides three safe modes and uses symmetrical password with the standard of AES (AES128), to provide a guarantee for the security of data transmission. The system uses GPRS network for long range data transmission, which has advantages in wide coverage, high transmission data and reliability, strong stability, low using charges, and always-on-line. The data monitoring centre chooses client/server model. The managers can check the operating condition of oil wells through the remote monitoring system of oil production in real time, and realized data sharing through querying databases.In the design of Zigbee wireless sensor network, we choose CC2430 as the main control chip of data acquisition terminal and the router, which has MCU core of 8051 with high performance and low power. The chip integrates RF front, battery monitoring, temperature sensing, and many other functional modules, it improves the integration of data acquisition terminal and makes the design of hardware convenient. It also has two kinds of low power modes:power down mode and suspend mode, and supports CSMA/CA channel access which provides an important basis for low power design. LPC2148 chip, which has low power and high performance, is designed to fit in gateway's design. It meets the requirements of high data throughput and processing ability, and improves the reliability, stability, and performance price ratio of the system.The monitoring of the oil well's operating condition is fulfilled by the indicator diagram. Load sensors and acceleration sensors can complete the displacement, load and acceleration's acquisition. After processed by system software, the data is converted into indicator diagram, and reported to the administrators via database server. By means of consulting relevant information, administrators make a diagnosis of operating condition and timely debugging. The system also has power monitoring functions of the terminal which enhances the reliability and stability of data acquisition network.Several tests proved that the system basically realized the remote real-time monitoring of oil wells, and met the target of design.The system has many advantages such as the easy installation, low operating costs, low power, flexible networking, wide coverage, reliable communication, and reusable nodes. It also solves many problems, including high cost of networking and maintenance, serious waste of system energy, the limit distance of transmission, and limit the coverage of network. It realized the further application of wireless sensor networks in the remote monitoring system.
