Zigbee is a standard that defines a set of communication protocols for low-data-rate and short-range wireless networking. It is a technology of wireless communication with characteristic of large network capacity, low cost, low power consumption and high reliability.Because of its small size of the nodes and flexible networking, Zigbee is very suitable for establishing wireless sensor networks. With the concepts of smart lighting and green lighting presented, the problems in traditional street lighting system have become inceasingly prominent. Seeking a highly efficient and reliable system of management for the street lighting is in line with social trends, and it also shows the principle of building a conservation-oriented society.To address those issues, this paper puts forward a scheme of monitoring street lamp based on Zigbee wireless communication technology. The program puts LED lights on the Zigbee network nodes to realize the real-time monitoring for the running status of LED. The program design includes hardware and software parts. The hardware is composed of LED driver circuit, control circuit, sensor module circuit and DC power supply. Control circuit and sensor module circuit is based on the CC2430 wireless microcontroller for expansion, the main function of this part is to achieve parameters measurement of LED drive voltage, current and light intensity, this part is also the focus of this research. Software components is the development of Zigbee protocol stack, the main features are establishing the wireless sensor network, sensor nodes to obtaining information and processing, the data communication between nodes and the coordinator. After the completion of design, testing the whole system in network and identifying deficiencies, then putting forward some suggest improvement.
