Results of an investigation carried out by credible international institutions (such as IDC, Gartner) indicate that document has become the most important way of both internal and external communications. The quality and cost of the document have important impacts on business operations. In the context of the present economic crisis, how to improve quality and service level of management and to reduce the cost of document through professional outsourcing services has attracted more and more attention from business.Daily documents are of great quantities and in various forms. Different needs are required in the process and management, while being consistent with the special regulations drafted by the nation or different industries. With the development of IT technology and the specialization trends, exploration of new models of outsourcing service to optimize the office resources, minimize costs, enhance the capacity of professional services and guarantee the safety and controllability of the documents, is a outstanding issue for the current management of business documents.From the perspective of the value chain, the process of the business document is a life cycle that is made up of series of ordinal value activities. The first thing to do of the service outsourcing of document management is to analyze the character of the value activities and the value chain optimization. Then choose an appropriate service strategy and model on the base of the demands of the document management. From the perspective of the document management lifecycle, the document management has different demands in different stages. It needs subsection study for the different kinds of service outsourcing models and their combination. The domestic and overseas studies in correlative fields have no deep analysis and discussion on the problems above.Around the problems above, the author analyzes the value activities of the document management; gives out the value chain model of the document management and its optimization strategy. Then, the existing service outsourcing model of document management and its advantages and disadvantages are systematically summarized and comparatively analyzed. On this basis, the author brings forward a combinational application strategy for the service outsourcing models of the document management lifecycle. And he carries out a deep research on the different service outsourcing models for different stages in use of value chain analysis methods.This thesis is divided into the following six chapters: Chapter I is a brief introduction for the research background, topics, and the object. Chapter II shows the content and process of the company documents management; Chapter III proposed the value chain model though the analysis of the value activities of the company document management; Chapter IV puts forward a compound application strategy of the lifecycle service outsourcing model in the use of the demand analysis of the above service outsourcing model, lucubrates in different stages of the outsourcing model; Chapter V expatiates practical application situation in different stages of the document management lifecycle of the above-mentioned service outsourcing model via two real cases. Chapter VI makes the conclusions and outlook.The research work for this thesis is an exploration for the service outsourcing model and strategy of company documents from the view of the value chain optimization and document management lifecycle. It is a new theoretical perspective, an application method and a good reference for the service outsourcing of company document management.
