Data acquisition system has been put into the use of measurement, control, examination, Science experiment and so on. During recent years, technology of Data acquisition has been improved greatly because of a series of advanced technologies such as MCU, GPRS has come into wide use for its superiority properties.According to an actual problem of automation data acquisition of water situation, this thesis proposes and designs a remote data collection system using GPRS, collects and processes the water level. Bases on GPRS network, this system consists of GPRS module, PIC single chin computer, the water level sensing technology, PC and water level sensors and monitors the situation of some areas. Therefore the resources of water in the area can be used efficiently.The system is composed of two parts, terminals of water information collecting and control and GPRS Remote transmission unit. The information collecting terminals are confirmed as unique ID, including single chip computer, water level sensors, and GPRS module, after finishing the process of collecting, enlarging and filtering of the wage, the data of water level would be sent to the center of control and management by means of SMS. The center of control and management, including GPRS module,management module,database and so on, analyzes the data from the collecting terminals to produce some charts for processing of data and sends controls to the terminals.In order to reduce the volume and improve the stability and reliability, circuit design and device choice plate have been put into great consideration, such as giving full consideration to the MCU and GPRS communications module of the communication problems. Since system software is programmed with C language and modular structure, volume of software,operational efficiency and reliability of the code are ensured.
