GPRS-Based Remote Medical Data Transmission And Management System

With the development of society, the demands for medical care are becoming higher and higher. However, due to the congestion in hospital wards and expensive hospital charges, poor environment for chronically ill and elderly patients, a low-cost, real-time and reliable remote medical monitoring system for family is the ideal solution for all above problems. Telemedicine is a emerging technology which is based on the biomedical, computer science, communication technology and other subjects, and combine the wireless data transmission, computer hardware and software technology.In this article, taking the pulse signal as a example, we introduce a process of the physiological data acquisition, processing, wireless transmission, querying and displaying. Focus of this study is the wireless transmission of physiological data and physiological data management. Remote medical care system mainly consists of a remote terminal and monitoring centers. And Remote terminal includes physiological data acquisition devices and wireless transmission module. Physiological data acquisition equipment transmits the collected physiological data to the wireless module MD-600 through the serial port in microcontroller. After that the MD-600 updates the data to the SQL Server database of monitoring center. The terminal has a data acquisition and processing functions. By the experiment results, it is believed that the communications of the remote terminal is real-time and reliable.The core of medical care data management system is SQL Server database, and the analysis and display of physiological data is in the form of ASP dynamic web. Doctors can give out the treatment recommendations through the pages which list the physiological data of patients. The data management system has a clear structure, simple manipulation, elegant interface. The B/S structure used, can be easily maintained and upgraded.
