With the fast development of electronic technology, real-time image processing iswidely used in the field such as multimedia and image communication.FPGA now hasbecame an ideal choice of hardware in real-time image processing, while the researchabout the implementation of digital image algorithms based on FPGA will be the newkey-point in information industry.This paper detailedly introduced a solution of image pre-processing system in videodetection system and implemented a FPGA subsystem which had the function of videocapture and image pre-processing and image displaying. The system used AltersCorporation's FPGA as the central processor.It was composed of video capturemodule,asynchronous FIFO module,video decode module,I~2Cconfiguration module, imageframe storing control module, image low-level processing module, encode module andFPGA configuration circuit. The analog video signal was captured by CCD sensor andconverted to the digital video signal by video A/D processor SAA7113.Digital video signalwas sent to the asynchronous FIFO buffer. Video decode module used the method ofidentification the digital video data stream to acquire the image data and then stored themin the SDRAM frame memory. Image low-level processing module pre-processed theimage and sent the worked data to the latter mage displaying system for displaying byvideoD/A processor SAA7121.The advantages of FPGA were illustrated through Comparing the traditionals oftwareand FPGA.FPGA method is an effective, convenient and economic method towareimage arithmetic.Therefore this paper has the broad application prospect and the marketvalue.
