Eportfolio Development And Applied Research

As the tool of progressive assessment for learning, the e-portfolio mainly takes multivariate evaluation methodology such as expressive and authentic assessment to evaluate students, whose purpose is improving the curriculum and teaching, accordingly in correspond with the need of students' development, thereby promoting their developing. Based on the request of the reform about the new curriculum to perfecting evaluation system, this paper introduced the origin, development, and the status of portfolio assessment applied to education at home and abroad, and also it analyzed the possibility of developing the e-portfolio, according to the research of the portfolio assessment theory and the current development status of computer network and database technology.This paper is mainly composed of three aspects: the research of portfolio assessment, the design development of the e-portfolio as assessment tool, and the teaching applications of e-portfolio. According to the request of portfolio assessment to the tool of progressive assessment for learning, we developed the e-portfolio taking the technology of JSP based on JAVA and SQL database, whose major function is recording, storing, re-creating and evaluating the learning process and academic achievement. After that, it given the suggestion that we should apply the e-portfolio as assessment tool to the college education, meanwhile it raised some problems that we should pay attention to in the course of applying e-portfolio. Finally this paper discussed the limitations of e-portfolio's developing and teaching applications together with the suggestions about developing from now on.The e-portfolio can record the study and growth process of college students, and provide the terrace of opportunity for students to study and introspect, so that the students can learn to judge their progress, and suit the need of social development, which is favorable to students' normal development. In addition, the development of e-portfolio can also promote the evaluation system's perfection and carrying out effectively.
