The Design, Development And Application Of Student E-Portfolio System Based On Internet

Currently, the new curriculum reform is carrying on in China, which one of the key points is student evaluation. The Curriculum Reform Outline of Basic Education requests that we should collect every student's development portfolio. The portfolio should contain such materials which reflect the student's learning process and performance, including student' self-evaluation, best-works etc. With the portfolio assessment, which is one kind of Comprehensive Quality Evaluation, we can help students improve their learning performance and promote their development. And now the portfolio assessment is widely used as a new assessment tool in elementary and middle schools, which have made some evident effects. With the development of information technology (especially the internet technology and multimedia technology), electronic portfolio (e-portfolio for short) has been developed to improve the traditional portfolio. To a certain extent, e-portfolio can play a better role in evaluating the students' performance which caters for the needs of new curriculum reform.According to the requirement of the new curriculum reform and the needs of Comprehensive Quality Evaluation, the author designed and developed a student development e-portfolio system based on Internet platform (taking Yiwu Chou Zhou Middle School as an example), using the ASP and SQL Server Technology. The content of portfolio can be recorded and presented through Internet combining the database, by which not only helps to manage, search and analyze the students' portfolio materials, but also can combines the appraisal with the development of students. With the system, we can provide the full-scale process recording and evaluation information for the daily appraisement of elementary or middle school. And the interaction which among teachers, teachers and students, between teachers and students' parents can be strengthened evidently.
