In the network information age, SAN (Storage Area Network) has become a very remarkable technology in storage area. On the one hand, it can provide rich, fast and convenient storage resources for the application system in the network;On the other hand, it can share the storage resources and can implement centralized management, it has become the ideal storage management and application pattern. To manage SAN efficiently, it must depend on the support of storage resource management system. Moreover, Replication/Restore module is one of the most important components in storage resource management system. During the past one year, the author took part in a SAN-based storage resource management project and worked on the Replication/Restore module. The author spent much time on the techniques and problems of the system. Based on summarizing the existing methods for storage implementation, the author carried on thorough analysis on Replication/Restore technology and completed the design and implementation of Replication/Restore module. Based on this research completed this paper.The research accomplishments mainly include:Introduced the elementary knowledge of data replication and restore technology;fully analyzed the whole architecture design and module partition of the SAN-based storage resource management system, described the functional description to each frame constituent part in detail and explained the relationship of Replication/Restore module and the whole storage resource management system.Introduced volume backup technology based on SAN and disk array in SRM and studied the backup model and backup plan of volume backup.Studied and analyzed how to apply Snapshot technology to Replication/Restore, elaborated its functional design, thus realized the on-line fast replication through establishment of Snapshot image.Designed and implemented the atomic break data backup system based on volume backup, thus guaranteed the integrity and consistency of data replication/restore operation for the large-scale database system whichoccupied many volumes.Analyzed the difficult points met at the time of system implementation, proposed the waiting queue mechanism and participated in its design and implementation.
