Microwave oscillator is one of key comport components for radar, electronic-wave, communication and measurement fields etc. Today, as the electronic technology is developing very fast, the request for higher performance oscillator is put forward, especially the low phase noise performance. In this paper, a PLL frequency synthesizer working in 24GHz is researched. At fist, we review the basic of phase lock loop and its constituent part. After that the basic conception and design method of PLL frequency synthesizer was introduced, especially introduced the charge pump PLL frequency synthesizer in detail. By reason of VCO determine the outside band phase noise of synthesizer, a high performance VCO is designed in this paper; basic conception of VCO and the method that using EDA tools to design VCO were introduced in detail. After that, the EDA design results and the experimental results of VCO were provided. Finally we introduced the method that use MB15E07SL and provided the experimental results of this low phase noise PLL frequency synthesizer with 300MHz working band.
