This paper presented a general introduction on Digital-Analog Converter study of domestic and aboard, analysis of DAC principle and structures, and the analysis of different converting, type such as current converting and voltage converting.Based on the study of binary weighted DAC and thermometer-coded DAC, a new segmented current-steering DAC is presented. The principle and sub-circuit of this DAC are also presented in this paper. The converter has the thermometer-coded 5+3 architecture. This architecture implements the 8-bit DAC and achieves a high speed reducing the area and power of DAC chip. This sample rate of this converter can be up to 100Msps.Some of the basic design theory and technology are presented within this paper. The basic cell architectures implemented in DAC are also presented. To improve The DAC, some of the cell architectures have to be designed carefully. The details of those cells are described.
