With the development of the computer science and network technology, great changes have taken place in the automatic control field. It is the trend that the control systems will become more open to the network. As one of the most popular technologies in local area network, Ethernet is widely used in the industrial automation field and process control field.Industrial Ethernet control system consists of field control layer, upper control layer and remote control layer. The intelligent controller in the field control layer is the embedded system which takes Motorola MCF5272 micro chip as its core CPU. The hardware interface of the embedded system is designed by ourselves. The operating system on the intelligent controller is called uClinux, which is an embedded linux operating system. The real-time data collected by the intelligent controllers will be sent to the upper control computer and be saved to the database. The intelligent controllers are managed and maintained by the upper control computer. At the remote control layer, we deploy a Java based 3-tier web server. The real-time data and the previous data will be presented to the customer through the web browsers and the customer also has a opportunity to set the value for the devices in site.Based on the investigation of the design and development of the software and the hardware of industrial Ethernet control system. The thesis focuses on the software design.The main content of the thesis can be briefly described as fallows:The conception of the networked control system is introduced at first. A detail survey on current industrial networked control system is also presented.Secondly, the thesis is focused on the composition and the system structure of the industrial Ethernet control system. The thesis presents in detail the design of the communication software of the whole system including communication between the intelligent controller and the upper control computer. The TCP/IP protocol, socket programming and the programming under the embedded linux operating system also have been introduced in this section.Thirdly, the thesis studies the real-time problem occurred in the system. A two-kernel solution based on the FIFO (First In First Out) algorithm is proposed to enhance the real-time capability of the system.The thesis also presents how to design a web server on the remote control layer using Java, the most advanced technology nowadays.At lasx, combined the development of new technology and the characteristic of industrial Ethernet control system, some improving methods are presented in the thesis.
