In recent years, with Ethernet and TCP/IP technology has become more sophisticated and widely used, Ethernet has more obvious advantages than other types of networking technology. In order to promote the application of Ethernet in the industrial field, the international community established Industrial Ethernet Association (IEA), Industrial Automation Open Networking Alliance (IAONA) and other organizations whose goal is to use Ethernet in the industry and promote the development of industrial Ethernet technology. Predictably, the future development trend of network control technology must be Industrial Ethernet.The fast developing Industrial Ethernet has a better performance than the Fieldbus. Research on industrial Ethernet and follow-up the devices'development based on industrial Ethernet has a promising market. Therefore, the industrial Ethernet research has an important theoretical and practical significance, for the achievement of the existing industrial equipment directly communicating with Industrial Ethernet.According to the purpose of the study, while the hardware used the 32-bit ARM processor as its core, the paper builded the embedded Linux technical development environment to deeply study Industrial Ethernet EtherNet/IP protocol.The main work of the paper was summarized as follows. The appropriate hardware and software development environment was selected. The embedded development platform was builded to study the EtherNet/IP and the embedded cross-compiler environment was established. The embedded real-time operating systemμCLinux was transplanted in hardware platform. The analysis of EtherNet/IP protocol was implemented. The network controller RTL8019 device driver development was completed in Linux (μCLinux) operating system. Finally, the frame of the industrial Ethernet EtherNet/IP protocol source code program was designed and the Makefile text for the project source code was finished, as well as the network communication program was designed based on EtherNet/IP under theμCLinux.This paper applied embedded technology in the industrial Ethernet research offering better solutions and ideas for the follow-up research on developing devices base on industrial Ethernet, finding a good connecting point to the continued development of fieldbus and the expanstion of Ethernet towards the bottom industrial equipment, solving the problem that products with different fieldbus standards were not compatible with each other and finally laying a good theoretical basis for getting the high performance-price-ratio solution for user to build an open automation system and to improve the existing system.
