| Food safety is an important issue that has attracted increasing public attention.In 2009,China promulgated the Food Safety Law for the first time,which formally strengthens legal protection and government supervision on food safety,especially on food safety risk assessment and food safety standards at the legislative level.The new Food Safety Law coming into effect in October 2015 further strengthens the legal regulation of food safety issues.The new Food Safety Law requires in Article 10 that the news media should take its responsibility in publicizing "food safety laws and regulations as well as pre-food standards and knowledge,and to supervise the illegal activities of food safety by public opinion."Public awareness of major food safety issues generally comes from the news media.How the media construct food safety issues affects people's awareness of national food safety,and also has an important impact on national image,economic development and social stability.Based on risk communication theory and media framing theory,this study reveals the status of food safety in China,the subjects and discourse framework of food safety in China constructed by the media through content analysis of the food industry newspaper,the China Food News.The finding shows that the paper framed food safety into two categories:safety and risk,with risk more than safety.Food safety risks happened more often in economic developed areas;foods with safety risks are mainly condiments and health products with higher uncontrollable factors;The source of the news is mainly from the government and experts;the most prominent media frame is the authoritative·government discourse.Imputation and treatment of subject differences and quantitative differences.In general,China's food safety issues constructed by the China Food News are risky but controllable,and gradually tend to improve.This paper mainly discusses the research findings from the aspects of the newspaper's attributes and issues. |
