A Study On Media Frame Of Food Safety Reports Of Southern Weekend

Food safety is an important part of the public safety system, related to the harmony and stability of society. However, in recent years, a series of food safety incidents have been exposed by the media and evoke a wide range of social repercussions. The media has played an irreplaceable role to make food safety been taken seriously because it realizes public’s right to know and affect perspective of the recipient. So it is important to explore the characteristics of food safety reports and make reasonable suggestions so as to get the media to play a greater role when dealing with food safety problems.Southern Weekend was taken as study object in this paper. Firstly, all244food safety reports from2007to2012were selected, analytical framework, including subject, origin, direction, form of communication and association framework, was built based on theory of media framework, and characteristics of food safety reports was analyzed by content analysis method based on the analytical framework mentioned above. Secondly, a case study was conducted on4reports included in special topic of "Tracing China’s dairy industry crisis’origin" and characteristics of news texts were studied in this part.In the following parts, we will discuss the issue in these four parts:The first part is introduction. Discuss the background and theoretical basis. Review the related research, list the main contents and methods of the research.The second part is to analysis, selecting all244food safety reports from2007to2012, including subject, origin, direction, form of communication and association framework.The third part is a case study, conducted on4reports including in special topic of "Tracing China’s dairy industry crisis’origin"The fourth part is the conclusion and the prospect of the study.Through the analysis motioned above, characteristics of food safety reports Southern Weekend were revealed:about the subject, unveiling the problem was stressed; about the origin, elite sense was highlighted; about the direction and form of communication, incarnated rational analysis; about and association framework, supervision by public opinion was emphasized. So the report framework of food safety reports of Southern Weekend can be concluded by such key words:elite consciousness, supervision by public opinion, rational analysis and unveiling the problem. Besides, characteristics of news texts showed well supporting on rendering subjects and playing the role of the media.
