At present, people begin to attach importance to their living environment which is more and more comfortable and safe. However, with the continuous development and extensive application of modern instrumentation, especially the virtual instrument, it closely combines computers with equipment, and uses common hardware as much as possible, and gives full play to the computer's ability, create more powerful instrument. Users can define and manufacture all kinds of instruments according to their needs. This paper connects today's popular virtual instrument technology and environmental monitoring system, and indoor environment remote monitoring system based on virtual instrument is proposed.Firstly, monitored environment in indoor environment is analyzed, this paper presents the background and significance, and illustrates the development of environmental monitoring system and analyzes the generation, concept, structure and advantages about virtual instrument. All circuits are designed after deciding the scheme of system design and the overall frame.This system is focused on AT89S51 microcontroller, and gathers indoor environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, optical, harmful gas Carbon monoxide and so on. And then it conveys that information from one computer to the other through remote transmission. The software includes microcontroller software design and computer software design. Lower computer software is mainly gathering indoor information, and then sends through the serial port. Computer program are primarily used Lab VIEW virtual instrument for data processing, storage, waveform analysis and display functions, and completes the communication between the remote computers by Internet.Finally, hardware and software is debugged. This system can accurately gather indoor environment parameters and can transmit data to the computer. And it achieved a long-range detection, with good usability, to meet the current needs of the people on the environmental parameters of cognition.
