Zhuzhou City,the major transport hub in southern China, is based on machinery, metallurgy, chemical industry, building materials industry and led by high-tech industry. It is a comprehensive multi-functional modern city of highly developed tertiary industry. The majority of sewage in the City pours into the urban water systems without any treatment, and flows into the Xiangjiang River, causing serious pollution to the urban environment and Xiangjiang River, affecting the normal life of residents and restricting economic development of the city. In order to improve the environment, beautify the city, strengthen the infrastructure, promote steady economic growth, enhance the level of information, develop information technology in the production management of applications and improve efficiency, Zhuzhou Urban Drainage Co., Ltd. are proposed to upgrade automatic control system of Xia Wan sewage treatment plant to guarantee the requirements of modern management of enterprises.As the shortcoming of the traditional water monitoring system such as the scattered layout of the monitoring system, the high cost and lack of flexibility through the cable system, we have developed a sewage treatment based on the GPRS monitoring system. Using GPRS technology, we complish the secondary development of monitoring software of Intouch 8.0 System for a city sewage treatment company, which is running under the Windows 2000 environment. Through running the system, the capacity of the sewage treatment system has been more substantial than before and saved economic cost. The contents of the article are as follows:1. A sewage treatment remote monitoring structure with GPRS technology is proposed, which can provide a functional model for the actual development. By outlining the development of technology used in remote monitoring system, the advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. GPRS system has been introduced in detail, from the structure of the GPRS system, logical structure, supplying services, to the transmission protocol stack structure, routing and transmission, air interface, network characteristics, and so on.2. Taking the real situation of ZhuZhou sewage treatment factory into consideration, we develop an effective remote monitoring system based on GPRS. The core models in this monitoring system include GPRS DTUs, a high-performance IOCP server, communicate protocol for data transmitting, database design and strategy for data store.3. Put the remote monitoring system into application in Bai Shi by remote operating and managing the related equipment in the pumping station. It turns out that the renewed sewage treatment monitoring system works well, and the results show that the system is of good real-time and reliability, while the costs of installation and operation are lower.
