With the development of society, people are now increasingly demanding on optical quality and imaging performance of mobile phone lens. In order to meet such above requirements, designers adopt various methods to improve the optical quality and imaging performance. In recent years, aspheric surfaces have been extensively used in lens design for the improvement of computer techniques and aspheric surface manufacturing and testing technology.The thesis consists of four parts, and aberration theory is the key problem during lens design. The total lens of the optical system is about 5mm in mobile phone nowadays, and so based on the basic theory of aberration, a thin type of aspheric lens for mobile phone with triplet lens is designed using ZEMAX. First of all, the basic theory of aberration is introduced, including kinds of primary aberrations and primary aberration theory of thin lens. Then according to the aberration theory, we choose a certain basic structure as an initial structure from patent literatures. This thin type of aspheric lens for mobile phone comprises three lens elements with refractive power, from the object side to the image side:a first lens element with positive refractive power, a second lens element with negative refractive power, a third lens element with negative refractive power, and an aperture stop located between the first lens and the second lens. In chapter three, we use aspheric lens and material of plastic to optimize the initial structure to reduce and balance the aberration according to the requirement. Then we analyze the data of this system. The plastic lens APL5014DO,POLYSTYR and ARTON_D4531 are chosen. The total lens of this optical system is 2.19mm. The MTF at 2951p/mm is higher than 0.2. In chapter four, tolerance is analyzed by Monte Carlo analysis. After the analysis, we know the tolerance according to the technology of manufacturing is good enough to this system.
