Due to the advantages of wide field and real-time capability, panoramic imaging has been widely used in video monitoring, video conference, public security and so on. Because of the imaging characteristics do not conform to the visual effect of the human eye, spreading of the panorama images is generally necessary. Owing to the barrel distortion, the image edge is compressed. So the image edge is usually low quality when spreading the panorama images. Aiming at this problem, our work is shown below:1. We introduced the mathematical model of the Q-type polynomial, demonstrated the reason why the Q-type polynomial control the surface type more effective compare to the traditional Zernike polynomial. And we summarized the advantages of Q-type polynomial in aspheric surface design, fabrication and measuring.2. Introduced the theory that "when optical image height is constant, the shorter focal length, the lower degree of image edge compressed". Supported by the Provincial education department project (class A):"super short-focus panoramic day and night monitoring lens", we used the Q-type polynomial to design a kind of panoramic lens that is low degree of image edge compressed.3. According to extreme wide-angle lens image distortion problem, use the Q-type polynomial to designed a wide-angle lens of the car which image distortion is low. The lens’s field curvature is less than±0.1mm, and the overall distortion is no more than5%. Relative to the distortion reduction technology, have the advantages of high edge resolution,real-time dynamic imaging, low cost and without the DSP chip decode.
